Hello!
I am sure you know depression casts a long shadow over our lives, engulfing us in cycles of sadness and despair. I understand this deeply, having faced its suffocating grip firsthand. But let me share with you my journey; a path of healing and restoration guided by three profound quotes from the Bible. Yes the Bible, follow me.
My Journey of Personal Redemption from Depression
At one of the lowest points in my life, I faced a crushing financial and emotional crisis. Mounting debts from an unsuccessful business venture, coupled with personal investment losses, left me feeling overwhelmed and hopeless. I began questioning my decisions, my purpose, and even my faith. At some point I lost my appetite, couldn’t sleep, and found myself contemplating the unthinkable; walking away from everything.
It was during this turmoil that a dear friend extended a lifeline. He urged me to explore three specific Bible quotes and practice what they taught. Though I was skeptical at first, desperation for relief made me take his advice. What I discovered wasn’t just letters but a step-by-step process to come out of depression. These quotes became my practical guide to joy and healing.
The Three Quotes and Their Transformative Steps
-
Knowing where to find Joy: My friend introduced me to Psalm 16:11 (KJV):
"Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand, there are pleasures forevermore."He explained that this verse was David’s discovery; how he discovered through experience that joy is in God’s presence and encouraged me, saying that the same joy could be mine, if know how to access God's presence. He assured me that this wasn’t just theoretical; countless people have found hope and joy that eradicated depression.
-
One of the Ways to Access God's Presence is Through Praise: The second quote, Psalm 22:3 (KJV), revealed how to practically enter God’s presence for a newbie like me:
"But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel."My friend emphasized that praise is the key to accessing God’s presence or bring God into my environment and that "Israel" mention in this quote means His people - those who have surrendered themselves to God. He guided me to repent of my sins and confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior to become God's. Then, he suggested playing a worship song, singing along with full focus, and continuing in praise for at least 30 minutes daily. He assured me that this act would bring me into God’s presence and in that experience joy will flow into my life.
-
Reinforcing that Access to Gods Presence can come through Thanksgiving and Praise: Finally, he pointed me to Psalm 100:4 (KJV):
"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."He advised me to create a daily habit of gratitude and praise, actively thanking God for what I had, even amidst my struggles. This, he said, would sustain God’s presence and the joy in His presence will flow into my heart.
How I Applied the Three Quotes
After our conversation, I took immediate action. First, I repented of my sins and confessed Jesus as my Savior. Then, I played a Don Moen worship song, singing along with all my heart. By the end of the first session, I noticed a significant change—I could eat properly for the first time in weeks.
On the second day, as I continued the practice, a forgotten opportunity came to mind. Years ago, I had invested in a small piece of land. Out of curiosity, I contacted a surveyor to assess its value. To my amazement, the value had increased dramatically. Within a week, I sold part of the land, paid off my debts, and had enough to restart my business. Joy and hope replaced the despair I had been feeling.
Counseling Others with the Three Quotes
Since my own breakthrough, I’ve shared these quotes and practices with others facing depression. One of them was Joy, a young woman overwhelmed by the loss of her mother. Through consistent praise sessions and applying these quotes, she found the strength to rebuild her life with renewed hope.
Another person, Dele, was struggling with depression after losing his job. As he embraced the practice of praise and thanksgiving, he experienced a sense of peace that led to new opportunities and eventually, a better job.
Grounded in Proven Sources
To ensure the validity of these practices, I have drawn insights from respected Ministers including Joyce Meyer. Their teachings, combined with my own experiences, have shaped the approach I’ve shared with you.
